When I find something that truly inspires me — which is rare because I’m super picky! — I want to share it with you. Here’s what I’m loving this month. Hopefully, one of these will bring joy, empowerment, and insight to you, too.
1. Abby Wambach’s Commencement Speech for Barnard College Class of 2018
Soccer star Abby Wambach’s commencement speech is so relatable and REAL — and the best part is you don’t need to be a 21-year-old Barnard College graduate to appreciate her advice. I especially loved her emphasis on how women need to champion each other, take risks, demand what they want, and learn that it’s OK to fail. Read the full speech here…it’s worth it!
2. Aquazarra’s Powder Puff Pompom Pumps
These Aquazarra slingbacks are feminine, yet striking; pretty, yet powerful — they’re full of juxtapositions, just like me and you! They are an investment piece BUT I’ll get a lot of wear out of these because they’re comfortable enough to wear during the day and have the perfect amount of razzle dazzle for evening work events.
3. Harvard Business Review’s Women at Work Podcast
The Harvard Business Review’s Women at Work podcast is all about women in the workplace, so of course, it’s right up my alley (and Harvard is my alma mater – go Crimson!). You really learn a lot from each episode. I suggest starting with Lead With Authenticity, which discusses how to lead with your whole, authentic self (or what I call #TheWorks, my method to unite your intellect, emotional intelligence, and personal style to achieve success and fulfillment at work and beyond).
4. Skin Deep: Women on Skin Care, Makeup, and Looking Their Best by Bee Shapiro
Not only does Shapiro’s book speak to skincare lovers like me with advice and product recommendations, it also discusses the larger role that beauty plays in women’s lives (for me, good skin means more great confidence).
5. Sugar Paper Los Angeles’s Today Notepad
To Do lists help me prioritize what I need to get done, and there’s no better motivation for keeping one than writing my action items on a chic notepad. I’m a big fan of Sugar Paper Los Angeles products— and an even bigger fan of gold foil!
